Our drive to Sankri begins. The banks of the River Tons are a treat by themselves, especially so as they slowly give way to the ‘Queen of Hills’ (a.k.a Mussoorie). Take a moment to take it all in. It will be late in the evening when we will reach the base village. We know the excitement of the following day may just keep you keep, but tired eyes may not get you very far. So enjoy a scrumptious meal and tuck in before the adventure begins!

Day 2: Drive from Sankri to Taluka; And it begins from Taluka to Seema  (14kms;5-6 hours)

Altitude: 6,400ft – 8,700ft

The day starts with 2 hours’ drive through the dense forests and the streams cutting through the lushness of the forests towards Taluka village and from thereon we shall start our trek on the stony trail towards the beautiful village of Seema. Welcomed by the very gracious people of the mountains, Taluka has quite contrasting architectural structure as compared to its other neighboring villages. The trek begins with a small descent towards the banks of River Tons. A distinctly craved shepherd’s trail is visible along the banks of the river that leads to straight into the mixed forests. A few minutes into the forest of conifers and you will come across a cemented bridge. Cross the stream and soon enough you will see a wooden bridge built across the blue waters of River Supin. Follow the slope that takes you towards the river and get refreshed by the cooling soothing glacial waters.  Traverse the bridge and the climb gets steep and alternates between upward and level walks. Continue on the terrain and not long enough, you will see a beautiful village with unique wooden houses on the left side of the River Supin, welcoming you in its paradise. Spend the evening at your leisure. Overnight - Stay in the wooden forest guesthouse.

Day 3: Seema to reaching Har Ki Doon (11 kms; 6 hours)

Altitude: 8,700ft – 11,700

Start your day early as you will be trekking towards Har Ki Doon which is located at a height of 11,700 ft. Right behind the guesthouse you will find a narrow trail leading you out of the village. Walk through the fields of beans and rice, giving the whole stretch a ranch house feel. The lifestyle of the people here still remains like them, simple and content. Enjoy your hike through the vast cultivated lands, grazing cattle, waving across to the small kids and do not forget to click some photographs with them.  After crossing a log bridge, the trail turns for an ascent over the confluence of Supin and Ruinsara rivers. On this incline, you will get fabulous viewpoints to steal glimpses of the Dhauladhar Range out front. Look out for Kalanag (Black Peak) and Bandarpooch ranges looming in the distance. Rivers never misdirect you and therefore, we will continue following them which will lead us straight to our destination. Dense forests gives way to open vast meadows with mountains in the background, creating a beautiful canvass painted through the brush of nature. You will find the campsite set up, facing the mesmerizing ranges. Capture the slow motion of the sun shifting its position during the sunset and a change in the colors of the sky. Spend the most beautiful nights of the trek under the galaxy of twinkling stars and the shiny snow capped mountains. Overnight – Stay in tents.

Day 4: Har Ki Doon to Jaundhar Glacier (9 kms; 5 hours) / Maninda Tal(3kms; 3 hours)/ Rest

Altitude: 11,700ft – 12,000ft

Wake up to the beautiful sunrise and let the beautiful view overshadow all your other thoughts. Spend the day today in exploring the bountyful valley of Har ki Doon. One can see the vast grounds below Swaragrohini-1 peak. Use nature’s meadows as your playgrounds and let the kid in you run free through them. Moving from right side of the campsite on the trail leading towards Swaragrohini-1 peak, we begin with the descent through multiple boulders and fresh sheet of snow. Experience the crystal clear white snow crunching underneath your shoes, as you wade through it to reach the beautiful glacier. Look at the sky and you will catch awe-inspiring views of Swaragrohini-1 peak, daunting and never leaving your sight. Jaundhar Glacier is located between tow pillar like peaks. Traverse through the ridges, enjoy snow slides on the mountain slopes and you will have a wonderful time at the Jaundhar basin. A more chilling option would be to proceed towards Maninda Tal which is a beautiful glacial lake situated in the heart of the mountains. Brahma Kamal, a rare flower which blooms only at night and is used as offerings to various deities, is found in abundance near this glacial beauty. Return back to the campsite. Those wishing to enjoy the astounding views of the valley, can stay at the campsite and spend the time at their leisure. Overnight – Stay in tents.

Day 5: Har Ki Doon to Osla (11 kms; 4 hours)

Altitude: 11,700ft – 8,800ft

Enjoy your last morning in the Valley of Gods as today you would descend to Osla which is situated at the height of 6,400 ft. A recap of the view seen the day prior flashes across your eyes, as you continue savoring the beauty of the location. Listen to the gurgling sound of the river which continues to flow with you throughout your leisurely descent. We shall reach the same wooden bridge which we had crossed to reach Seema village. But today of crossing it, we shall stride straight through it to reach the mythological village of Osla. Osla holds great importance in the Hindu mythology, as it is the only village that houses the temple of Lord Duryodhana. The architect of the temple is sheer beauty to one’s eyesight. Spend the evening exploring the village of Osla and interacting with the locals here. You will be amazed to see how proud they are to stay in the Himalayas and would never want to leave the mountains. Take some inspiration and enjoy the dinner cooked specially by the locals here. Bid adieu to your hosts as you will be descending from Osla towards Taluka and then a drive to Sankri. The river continues to flow by your side throughout the descend. Stroll through the mountain slopes and take enough photographs to capture the wonderful views of nature. Your trek leader shall permit a few enthusiasts to take a dip in the refreshing cold glacial water only if the flow of water is slow and safe. At Trikon safety takes paramount importance and strictly follows the rule of safety first. Reach Taluka and stop for some refreshments at the local tea shop before boarding your ride to Sankri.
