Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Reykjavik
On arrival at the Keflavik International Airport, you will be transferred to the hotel in Reykjavik for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Reykjavik City Tour & Borgarfjordur Saga Valley
After relishing on the breakfast, meet your tour guide who will walk you through the highlights of Iceland’s exciting capital. The first destination you would be covering as a part of your Iceland tour package is Borgarfjordur. Also known as the Saga Valley, this place has historical significance. Later, get ready to scale the 3400-year old, Grábrók volcano crater. Explore this crater and admire other colourful craters, lava fields and lake Hredavatn. Reaching this crater will take just 15-20 minutes.

Visit Deildartunguhver, Europe’s most powerful hot spring. This hot spring is characterized by a very high flow rate, where water emerges at 97 Degree Celsius.

The waterfalls at Hraunfossarwill leave you spell bounded as they pour from beneath a wide lava field. Barnafoss – the Children’s falls, is a spectacular light blue waterfall as well. Later in the afternoon, gather for an information session on Northern Lights.

After enjoying some lip-smacking dinner, step into the hotel garden and see if you can spot the Northern Lights. This activity will be followed by a hot cup of chocolate or tea. Stay overnight at a hotel in Borgarnes.

 

Day 3: Snæfellsnes Peninsula & Fjord Cruise
Day 3 of your Iceland package tour is going to be exciting! You will head for the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, which is also called as “the peninsula of the snowy mountain“. This Peninsula has a volcano with a glacier at its tip.

Later, travel to the fishing town of Stykkishólmur for a cruise in the Breiðafjörður fjord. After having light lunch, head towards Bjarnarhöfn, a place famed for making Hákarl – the fermented shark. Also explore the fishing village of Grundarfjörður, which boasts of an impressive coastline, majestic mountains, calm lakes and scenic waterfalls.

Mt. Kirkjufell, also known as the “Church Mountain” will be the next place you would be covering. This freestanding mountain never fails to delight tourists. The mountain turns green in summer and white in winter.

When returning to Borgarnes, the guide will share some tips on how to photograph the Auroras. After getting back to the hotel, don’t forget to come out in the garden to chase the Northern Lights. Later soak in the hotel’s outdoor hot tubs and feel rejuvenated. Relax and enjoy a sound sleep at the hotel in Borgarnes.

Day 4: Golden Circle, Geothermal Taste & Icelandic Horse
Travelling along the Hvalfjörður fjord is going to be an exhilarating experience for you. The first stop will be an Icelandic wool outlet store, where you can buy a wide range of Icelandic wool products like sweaters, blankets, mittens, gloves, etc.

Proceed to Thingvellir National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site and has an outstanding significance geographically and historically. Watch the steam rising from the Geysir geothermal fields as you travel the Golden Circle route. Relish the freshly baked hot spring bread served with Icelandic butter, boiled eggs and herring at Restaurant Geysir.

Head for Iceland’s most iconic sights – double waterfall of Gullfoss. In the afternoon, learn about the Icelandic horse. It is the only horse breed in the world that can perform five gaits!

Visit to the geothermal greenhouse and gain a unique insight about what goes in the processes of horticulture. After an eventful Day 4, reach the accommodation in South Iceland. Your Iceland vacation packages also include spotting the northern lights.Try searching the elusive Northern Lights from the hotel garden while relaxing in a comfortable hot tub. Enjoy sound sleep at the hotel in Hveragerði.

Day 5: Natural Wonders of South Iceland & Eyjafjallajökull Volcano
Travel along the South coast to visit the Lava & Volcano Exhibition Centre and learn about geology and active volcanoes. Further down east; visit one of Iceland’s finest folk museums. This museum has on display Iceland’s noteworthy collection of farm and domestic artefacts of the bygone era.

Not far from the museum is Skógafoss waterfall, which is one of the most impressive waterfalls of Iceland. Later take a stroll on the black lava beach and bird cliffs at Reynisfjara in South Iceland.

Spend two nights near Kirkjubæjarklaustur in the Vatnajökull National Park region. This place is ideal for Northern Lights search.

Day 6: Vatnajökull National Park & Glacier including Glacial Lagoon and Diamond Beach
Glaciers, ice and icebergs is what this action-packed day will be all about! Yes, as you travel to Jökulsárlón, a glacial lagoon filled with floating icebergs, you might see seals swimming in arctic waters.

Walk along the black sandy shoreline of the beach, the so-called Diamond beach. In the afternoon, visit the tiny turf church at Hof and explore Europe’s largest national park, which houses Iceland’s highest mountains, an alpine environment, and Europe’s largest glacier.

Later in the evening, watch an interesting film about the Northern Lights and locate the Northern lights across the sky. Enjoy a good night’s sleep at a hotel in Kirkjubæjarklaustur.

Day 7: South Shore, Reykjavík & Blue Lagoon
It’s time to head across the Eldhraun lava field to the village of Vík, which is a renowned photo stop. The sight of the black lava beach, high bird cliffs and splashing waves are overwhelming. As you go to the west, you will come across a narrow but high – Seljalandsfoss waterfall.

In the afternoon, return to Reykjavik and explore Iceland’s capital on your own. During this 2-hour leisure time, visit museums, do some shopping or simply relax.

Tonight go on one last tour to search Northern Lights. Reach Reykjavík by midnight and stay overnight in a hotel.

Day 8: Depart Reykjavik
Transfer to Keflavik International Airport to board your flight back home.
