This journey is a spiritual and scenic rail-plus-road trip from Mumbai to coastal and Malnad regions of Karnataka, covering some of the most revered temples and lush monsoon landscapes.

The trip begins with an overnight train to Udupi, home to the famous Udupi Sri Krishna Temple. From here, the route transitions into a picturesque road journey through the Western Ghats, stopping at Karkala, Sringeri, and Horanadu—each known for its spiritual significance and serene natural surroundings.

The final halt is Dharmasthala, a major pilgrimage center dedicated to Lord Manjunatha. After an overnight stay, the journey concludes with a short drive to Mangalore for the return train.

Designed for the monsoon season, this itinerary combines temple visits, scenic ghat drives, and peaceful stays, while keeping travel practical and well-paced. It is ideal for those seeking a blend of devotion, nature, and a refreshing break from city life.

Day 0: Departure from Mumbai

Departure: Start your journey from Mumbai by 12133  Mangaluru Jn. SF Express.

Day 1: Arrival in Udupi – Temple Darshan & Rest

11:26 AM: Arrive in Udupi.

On arrival in Udupi, check into your hotel and freshen up.

Visit the sacred Udupi Sri Krishna Temple for darshan. The temple atmosphere during monsoon is calm and less crowded, making it ideal for a peaceful visit.

Spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2: Udupi → Karkala → Sringeri 

After an early breakfast, begin your road journey.

First, drive to Karkala (about 1–1.5 hours). Visit the majestic Gomateshwara Statue, situated on a hill with beautiful monsoon views.

Continue your journey towards Sringeri through lush Western Ghats. Expect fog, greenery, and occasional heavy rain—this is one of the most scenic stretches of your trip.

On arrival, visit the revered Sringeri Sharada Peetham on the banks of the Tunga River.

Stay overnight in Sringeri.

Day 3: Sringeri → Horanadu → Dharmasthala

Begin early in the morning and head to Horanadu (approx. 2 hours).

Visit the divine Annapoorneshwari Temple, known for its hospitality and prasadam meals.

After darshan, continue towards Dharmasthala. This route passes through dense forest and ghat sections.

Reach Dharmasthala by evening and visit the famous Dharmasthala Manjunatha Temple.

Stay overnight in Dharmasthala.

The Annapurneshwari Temple and the Manjunath Temple are famous for their *Prasadam*; therefore, we will be having our lunch and dinner at these locations.


Day 4: Dharmasthala → Mangalore

Wake up early and proceed to Mangalore.

Reach Mangalore railway station and board your return train to Mumbai.

Return Journey: Take the 12620 Matsygandha Express train back to Mumbai.

Day 5: Arrival: Reach Mumbai (LTT) by 7:00 AM.

  • AC Tickets: Subject to availability. If not available, sleeper coach tickets will be provided, and the fare difference will be refunded within 3-5 working days.
  • Double Sharing: ₹3000 extra Per Person.

Sightseeing mentioned in the itinerary is subject to time availability and local conditions. Due to unforeseen circumstances, some places may be skipped. The on-ground tour leader will take the final decision as per the schedule, and all participants are requested to respect the same.
