Overview

Among Alang-Madan-Kulang, Kulang Fort in the Kalsubai Range is the only fort which doesn’t require technical expertise for climbing. At an altitude of 4822 feet, it is also the highest and the longest non-technical climb for trekkers in the Sahyadris. Reaching the top of the fort has its own rewards as it offers a mesmerizing view of the surrounding ranges like Harishchandragad, Harihar, Ratangad and Kalsubai peak.

The British who captured Kulang Fort in 1818 thankfully did not cause a lot of damage to it. Thus one can see rock cut cisterns and a cave on the fort which can shelter people at night. A path made of rock cut steps leads to the fort. In the pre-monsoon period, a tuft of clouds floats at this altitude and creates a sublime blanket of mist, fog and vapour. These light and copious clouds transforms the surrounding to a heaven-like state which you might have only read and seen in story books!

If, along with a trekker, there is a dreamer in you which wants to get entangled in the layers of pre-monsoon clouds, then Cloud Watching Kulang Fort Trek is just the right bet for you! Come, join us on this dreamy and thrilling adventure!
