Overview

Padargad Night Trek

This relatively unexplored fort is one of the most fascinating treks of the Sahyadri mountains. Padargad was constructed as a watch tower for Ganpati Ghat, that connects Karjat with Bhimashankar. The fort structure has almost disappeared; few water tanks and caves still exist.

What makes Padargad a must-do trek in Sahyadri for all the avid trekkers is the thrill of crossing a few rock patches and a chimney climb. For the laymen, chimneying is a technique where one uses hands, feets and back to apply opposite pressure on vertical walls and climb upwards. The challenges call for the use of technical skills and equipment- hence, attracting many trekking enthusiasts to Padargad every year.

The efforts to reach the top are rewarded by the breathtaking view of the entire Bhimashankar range- you can also spot Siddhagad, Kothaligad and Bhimashankar from here.
